All 14 PhD positions in translational oncology at the Medical University of Vienna
The Medical University of Vienna announces 14 positions for graduate students in the field of Translational Cancer Research, with a special focus on therapy resistance in cancer. The overall scientific aim of the International PhD Program in Translational Oncology (IPPTO) is to better understand mechanisms shaping anticancer therapy responses, design strategies to better stratify patients, and to identify potential strategies that delay or impair therapy resistance.
IPPTO is a new excellence program funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) to promote outstanding education and training for doctoral students. Successful candidates will be awarded a generous scholarship that will cover research costs, work-related travel, salary and health insurance for 4 years. The salaries offered by the FWF to PhD students are among the highest for University PhD Programs in Europe, amounting to around € 30,000 (gross) per year with a net salary of €1,600 after tax (netto), paid in 14 monthly installments per year.
Vienna is ranked as one of the best cities to live and has a large English-speaking community. The Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Wien) is one of the largest medical campuses in Europe, located within walking distance of Vienna´s historical center.
Highly qualified applicants from all over the world are invited to apply. Previous research experience is desired but not essential. All applicants must have excellent academic track records and must demonstrate strong enthusiasm and talent for research. Applicants should be fluent in written and spoken English. All applicants must hold a university degree in natural sciences/medicine (Master of Science or equivalent) latest by January 2020, and should fulfill the official admission criteria for PhD students at the MedUniWien.
